From 16th-18th, Sep., 2008, the fifth China International Rescue & Salvage Conference with the theme of “New challenge & New achievement” was held in Dalian.  The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport FENG  ZHENGLIN attended the opening ceremony and made an important speech. 300 personages from domestic rescue and salvage bureaus, maritime universities，IMRF，ISU，ADCI，USCG，SSRS ，HKGFS，HKFSD，…，attended this forum.

When delivering the speech in the opening ceremony, FENG ZHENGLIN  pointed out that the international rescue & salvage had got the great opportunity for developing , but had to face the severe challenge as well. He hoped that all the attendants could make use of China International Rescue & Salvage Conference to probe about the new opportunities and challenges and study the new mode of cooperation. He also required China Rescue & Salvage to learn cutting-edge technologies , management ideas and advanced experience from foreign fraternity, to continuously probe and perfect the mode of developing with Chinese characteristics and make us the world-class professional rescue and salvage procession.

The director general of CRS Ministry of Transport made a leitmotiv speech The Comprehensive Usage of Professional Emergency Rescue Resource in which he mentioned that as the only professional marine rescue and salvage procession in China , CRS should improve its ability to deal with emergency and make use of its limited resource on the most challenging tasks.

About 110 thesis were received in this forum. All the scholars and experts aired their own views on developing of rescue & salvage and advanced many new proposals. The success of this conference will certainly make great progress to both International Rescue & Salvage and CRS.

For the sake of expressing China’s ability of fulfilling International Convention for the Saving Life at Sea and International Convention On Salvage as A-class Council Members of IMO, CRS organized an aeronaval rescue manoeuvre on Dalian Xinghai Square in the morning of 16th ,Sep.

An International Salvage Equipment and Technology Exhibition was also held during this forum .  About 30 manufacturers from all over the world attended.
